Avontuur Lodge is situated in the pristine, malaria free Avontuur Valley in the district of Middelburg Mpumalanga.
It lies Approximately 200 km from Pretoria, the Capital City of South Africa.
The Lodge owned by the S.J.P Kruger family since 1972 is now being managed by the 3^rd generation of S.J.P Krugers.
Dries Kruger (second generation) has an extreme passion for the area, it’s history, biodiversity and the opportunities it offers adventurous tourists seeking to discover and experience the wonders of a relatively unknown part of South Africa.
As a proud South African Dries, through Avontuur Lodge, is sharing his passion and knowledge of the Avontuur valley, Middelburg , Loskop valley and Historical Pretoria by way of short adventure tours of the area for small groups. (two to four people.)
The tours vary and are dependent on the activities the adventure seeking tourist wishes to pursue.

Avontuur Lodge Tours and Activities

Avontuur Lodge, in itself provides a unique experience. With accommodation quaint and uniquely African. It overlooks the Avontuur valley offering panoramic vistas, spectacular sunsets, two waterfalls and is rich in diverse fauna and flora. Wild life abounds including Kudu, Impala, Zebra, Reebuck, Bushbuck and Duiker. Other game including Warthog, Bushpig and predators such Leopard, Serval, Lynx and Brown Hyena are also regularly spotted in the area. Included in this tour are visits to historic sites in Pretoria including the Voortrekker Monument, Paul (S.J.P) Kruger’s Statue and House as well as other historic sites.

Alternative three or four star accommodation can also be arranged a short distance from Avontuur.
